OK just wanted to update. I picked up my Yamaha yev 105 after Mike trimmed the bridge down to low action for me 2 days ago but didn't have a amp in Panama City to plug it into but played it dry anyway and the action was so precise all i had to do is just touch the strings to play it. I bought this electric violin from Fiddlerman on line because he was the only one to have one in stock. I asked them to do the same job but got lousy service and although they said they trimmed the bridge down, they did absolutely nothing. This evening after getting to my other home in Columbus Ga I plugged it in to the amp to try it out and this thing sounds AWESOME! No other luthier was willing to try and trim the bridge because the pickup is mounted in the center of the bridge an wired directly to the violin. This was no problem for Mike and he wasn't afraid to try either. He even reset the action and adjusted the nut on my acoustic for free and didn't charge me a penny ( it plays bluegrass beautifully now ). While he worked we talked about God and going through the seminary ( I'm also a theologian ). The experience was great and I left there feeling uplifted. We had a short prayer together and I left for Columbus. Whenever I'm back in Panama City beach I will always try to stop in and see mike and his wife because they're just good people that feel like an extension of our family. This is the only luthier I will let touch my violins.
This is a great shop run by good people! I recently brought in an old hand-me-down violin and Mike(one of the owners) not only refurbished the instrument, but gave me a few pointers and also managed to throw in a beginners tutorial. Hands down, this is the best customer service I've received from a music shop. It's definitely worthwhile to check it out!
