Had one of the worst haircuts of my life here!I called requesting a VERY experienced Stylist and I was assured that this would be the case but it wasn't! Starting with the shampoo service, it was awful, not relaxing, water was too hot at one point and she didn't even know how to drape the towel on my hair. A client should never have to walk from the shampoo bowl to the station holding a badly placed towel on her hair! Then during the consultation I told her that I only wanted an inch off to get rid of the dead ends and that I wanted LONG layers. I also explained and showed her how I part my hair on both sides and that I did a severe, asymetrical part, not a straight part. She parted my hair straight to cut it on one side only and I told her to part it in the middle, that this is how I always get it cut so that I can flip it on either side, she wouldn't listen. Sure enough, I could only part it on one side and not the other side because of what she did! My hair is very coarse and I explained to her that it gets very frizzy with the humidity here in FL. I lived up North for years and my hair hasn't quite adjusted to the humidity here and what does she do? she tried to use a razor on my coarse hair! You never EVER use a razor on someone with coarse hair! I told her not to and that this is damaging to my type of hair. She was clearly not experienced! She gave me some short layers that made my hair flip upwards around my lower cheeks and I absolutely hated it. She didn't even know how to blow dry properly, no technique and drying it under the root upwards and on each side was a good way to make sure that my hair would get frizzy again in no time! She also tried to do small curls to make my hair look texturized but she didn't even know how to do it right and I did not want my hair too look textured, I only wanted it curled with a round brush under at the ends! She then had to use a flat iron to smooth out my hair. I can blow dry my hair smooth with just a round brush and I never use a flat iron because it would damage my hair more. No face framing like I asked for either and I ended up with one side longer than the other. Their lighting was bad at her station and I couldn't tell right away. I couldn't wait to be out of her chair. When I got home I realized it as soon as I saw it under better lighting. Disconnected pieces, a total disaster. I called right away to explain that I wasn't satisfied and the reasons why and I even told the receptionist that I wasn't trying to be mean but that this girl needed some more training and basic 101s and she told me she was experienced...licensed for a year. She told me she would try to fix it but I told them I had no confidence that she could because she wouldn't listen to her client in the first place! I asked for another stylist and I was told I'd have to pay again. I tried calling to talk to the owner and left my number, repeated it a few times and I finally went there when I didn't hear from them. I had an important event the next day and I needed my hair fixed and the receptionist got my number wrong! figures! Then she told me I'd get my money back and that they felt that no other stylist would make satisfy me and to go elsewhere. I was trying to give constructive criticism for the girl's benefit so she could get more training and this is how it ended. Poor customer service. A good salon owner makes sure that no client ends up disappointed and steps in to correct the issue. This is coming from a Licensed Cosmetologist and no, I am not making this up and not sharing this bad experience due to competition! This salon let me down and that Stylist too for not training her properly!I ended up with my hair a lot shorter than I wanted it to be and the style didn't even last because she didn't know how to blow dry properly, the next day my hair looked a lot worse!
I have been going to this salon for a few years now and I will never go anywhere else! This is the first salon where I can get my hair cut and not have to go home and "redo" what they have done! Best cut and color in town! My favorite is Amber, but I'm sure they all are equally as good.
Very pleased with my first Indulgence experience!
The long story: I had a hair lady I swore by, but when she moved to Michigan I was left to find another. For several months I used a very dark Ion (from Sally's) dye on my hair and only had the dead ends trimmed away. Today I called to schedule an appointment for partial highlights and trim/cut and the lady who took my call was VERY sweet and helpful. I was worked in immediately due to a cancellation. My hair is a level 2 DARK brown so as I was showing Alora the caramel color highlights I wanted, she was honest about the fact that it may take another process to lighten fully, which is fine and understandable. I also wanted to rid myself of the choppy layers I have been wearing and go softer, keeping the volume. She understood immediately. I couldn't be happier with the cut and how easy to work with she was. My next appointment is in two days to lift my hair color some more and I'm actually excited (which is rare, I hate sitting still to have my hair done).
To summarize: VERY friendly staff and accommodating atmosphere. Alora is extremely talented and has my business for many years to come.
Allura is amazing! After a few traumatic hair experiences at different salons, she was really patient with me and helped me find the cut and color I wanted! It always looks so natural. My hair takes color SO easily so it always turns out way too dark or way too light (depending on which direction I was going - all over medium brown or some highlights in the summer). I feel like my hair is always either dark dark brown or way too blonde, and I haven't found a perfect "natural brunette highlight" until I started going to her. I can't say enough good things about her. Plus, she's super sweet and always explains why she chose a color or what she will be doing with the cut, so there are no surprises!
I was a first time customer here, the salon is beautiful on the inside, receptionist was bright and kind, the stylist I was booked with, Allura, had curly hair so she could empathize with some of the struggles I go through, did an absolute fantastic job at cutting and coloring my hair! It was worth what I paid for my style and will be returning! Each of the stylists there were professional and no customer seemed to walk away dissatisfied!
